10 Habits of Successful Entrepreneurs

So I have to start this off by saying… everyone’s definition of success is different and habits of every successful person are going to be… different!

While there are some things that are common among successful entrepreneurs these are not the only ways to find your version of success!

So after a little digging, here’s a list of 10 habits of successful entrepreneurs:

1. They have Big Visions/Goals

I’ve never heard of an entrepreneur that didn’t have a huge vision or goal.

A lot of successful entrepreneurs (Mark Z, Amy Porterfield, Jenna Kutcher) have very humble beginnings but their visions and goals seemed impossible at the beginning… but they achieved them.

How?

2. They set realistic expectations. Mini-goals!

Set the big goal but break it down into small realistic goals or steps to achieve it.

There’s nothing wrong with having the vision to build a 7 figure business in 2 years but don’t just stop there.

Successful entrepreneurs break down this large goal into small steps to achieve their ultimate vision.

3. They wake up early

Chile… count me out on this one because it’s not happening.

I wake up early when I HAVE to, but a lot of successful entrepreneurs enjoy being the early bird.

Although it’s not my thing (at the moment), I find that…

many successful entrepreneurs wake up early and have a morning routine to get them in tip top shape to have a productive day.

One day I’ll be an early rising success, but not today.

4. Successful entrepreneurs are results driven

So many of us get caught up in our dreams and ideas and never get results. We are busy doing nothing.

Trust me, I’ve been there and sometimes fall into the habit of “working” but not producing!

Successful entrepreneurs get results and they focus on results.

Are you focusing on small tasks or getting results? Do you adjust your plans continuously to get results?

Each night I review my goals for the day, week, month, and year to see where I need to shift and adjust to get results and reach my goals.

If something isn’t adding to my bottom line, I drop it and figure out a new way.

Results are all that matter.

5. Successful entrepreneurs exercise regularly and eat well.

After reading daily routines and tips by successful entrepreneurs, a common theme came up that they value their bodies.

This definitely makes sense because as a business owner, the success of your business depends on you. You have to be in top shape in order to sustain a business with the level of care that it needs.

Focusing on your health is of utmost importance.

6. They are flexible

Remember when I said successful entrepreneurs are results driven, well they are also flexible because they understand that business is fluid and ever-changing.

Successful entrepreneurs recognize that the market changes daily, hourly, and by the minute and they have to adjust to their customers needs.

They are also flexible in their ideas and brand while maintaining the integrity and mission of their business.

7. Successful entrepreneurs live on a schedule

If you don’t have a planner, google calendar, or VA keeping track of your schedule, now is the time to get on it!

Successful entrepreneurs schedule everything!

You have to value your time and learn to prioritize things such as family, business, and yourself. The only way to do this is by having a calendar or schedule to keep up with all the moving parts of being a successful business owner.

8. Consistently take part in personal development to stay motivated

This should honestly be number 1. If you’re not doing anything else, you should at least invest in your personal development.

From reading books and attending events to listening to podcasts, personal development is a MUST for all successful entrepreneurs.

There is always room to grow and learn. You’ll always need a way to plug in and get motivation and inspiration.

If you want to be successful, listen to the experts and those who are where you want to be. Learn from them and continue to develop yourself.

Success starts in your mind.

9. They have a great team.

While this isn’t something I have yet, I wholeheartedly agree.

Every successful entrepreneur I have encountered has a team even if it’s only them and one other person.

The reason you need a team is because you need a break and to surround yourself with people that can do things better than you.

For example: I’m no graphic designer so it makes more sense for me to hire one than to spend hours upon hours designing one flier.

At the beginning it may not be possible to invest in a team, but this is when you become creative.

Is there something you can offer to someone to get them to provide you with their service?

How can you get others to believe in your vision enough to support you and be on your team for free? Can you take on an intern?

A team is vital to growing and becoming a success as an entrepreneur!

10. They just start

All my favorite successful entrepreneurs (and I’m sure yours too) started before everything was “perfect” or before they were “ready.”

This is the secret sauce of a successful entrepreneur.

Just start!

Have a big vision, set realistic expectations and tiny goals, adjust and focus on results, and JUST START!

So what are you waiting for?

How can you use these 10 habits TODAY to become more successful?

How do you define success?

For me, success is being able to have the freedom to travel and be with my family whenever I want. To not have to punch a clock and depend on anyone outside of myself. To be paid based on my VALUE and not my time.

What does success mean to you and how can these habits get you one step closer?

  1. Thanks for sharing this, there are some real gems in this post! ✨ Calendar blocking has definitely helped me be more organized and has even helped me be a bit better at being an early riser (still not 100% there but I average about 2 out of 5 days each week).

The last tip is so perfect! That “perfect” time isn’t a real thing, so you’ll be waiting on it forever. Love it! 💕

    1. Thanks for your comment boo! I love calendar blocking! It makes my life so much easier! Good for you on waking up early twice a week! Whew! I’m not there yet lol

      “Perfection doesnt exist” xoxoxo

  2. I love the idea that if your goals don’t scare you they’re not big enough. Sometimes I’ll fret over my goals and think they’re unrealistic but you know what, they’re not! Thanks for empowering me!

  3. I laughed way to hard at tour hate for early rising. I also can’t stand getting up early and only do it on work days. Otherwise I wake up when I feel like it. Number 10 is my favorite!! Just start! Going for it is at least half the challenge!

  4. Yaasss to all of these!! I am just now starting to get back into my early riser routine and working out. I feel my creativity boosting already!! I love this post and everything you hit on! As entrepreneurs having good habits can help propel us forward ❤️❤️
