The Enneagram Personality Test

Something I love to do is learn more about my personality type and the personalities of those closest to me! These personality tests help me in my relationships but they also help me in my business because I am able to understand people (and myself) on a deeper level.

I recently heard about the Enneagram test and I had to take it!

The enneagram has 9 personality types where one emerges as your dominant personality from childhood.

The nine personality types are as follows (by the Enneagram Institute):

1- “The Reformer” is principled, purposeful, self-controlled, and perfectionistic.

2- “The Helper” is generous, demonstrative, people-pleasing, and possessive.

3- “The Achiever” is adaptable, excelling, driven, and image-conscious.

4- “The Individualist” is expressive, dramatic, self-absorbed, and temperamental.

5- “The Investigator” is perceptive, innovative, secretive, and isolated.

6- “The Loyalist” is engaging, responsible, anxious, and suspicious.

7- “The Enthusiast” is spontaneous, versatile, acquisitive, and scattered.

8- “The Challenger” is self-confident, decisive, willful, and confrontational.

9- “The Peacemaker” is receptive, reassuring, complacent, and resigned.

This is really just the basics, there is a whole spiral you can go down with the Enneagram Institute to learn more about this.

Everyone has a dominant personality type but you can also have a mix of another type. This is called your “wing” and it can only be one of the numbers adjacent to your dominant number.

For example you can be a 5 wing 6 (5w6) or a 5 wing 4 (5w4), but you can’t be a 5 wing 9.

I say all this to give a little background to the test and share my results.

I am an Enneagram…

The Peacemaker aka “The Dreamer”

Man when I read my results of my personality type, I was in awe! It was so accurate!

Some of the characteristics of a 9 are:

Basic Fear: Of loss and separation

Basic Desire: To have inner stability “peace of mind”

Nines are accepting, trusting, and stable. They are usually creative, optimistic, and supportive, but can also be too willing to go along with others to keep the peace. They want everything to go smoothly and be without conflict, but they can also tend to be complacent, simplifying problems and minimizing anything upsetting. They typically have problems with inertia and stubbornness.

At their Best: indomitable and all-embracing, they are able to bring people together and heal conflicts.

Noteworthy 9’s: Abraham Lincoln, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Jr., Walt Disney, Jim Henson (Muppets), Gloria Steinem, Carlos Santana, Janet Jackson, George Lucas, Audrey Hepburn, Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Whoopie Goldberg, “Mister Rogers,” “Homer and Marge Simpson”

You can take the test for free here!

Once you get your result head over to the Enneagram Institute to learn more about your type! It will give you: an overview, what motivates you, people who are also the same type, how you act at your best and worst, your compatibility with other types, your addictions, and recommendations for personal development.

The most fun part about taking this test (besides seeing my results and understanding myself more) was getting my husband to take the test to see how compatible we are. He is a 3!

One thing I have noticed is that I tend to surround myself with the same “type” of people.

I have taken the Myers-Briggs and now the Enneagram and I find that all my closest loved ones usually type similarly and I type completely opposite of them. Very interesting.

Anyway, comment below and tell me your results! If you type your friends and family share their types in the comments below as well!
